Traditions & Customs
Bahrain is a friendly enough host nation, but it is imperative to show respect and courtesy in reference to your particular cultural practices and religion at all times. When you are in places where local Arabs can be found, it is advisable to wear long pants, instead of shorts, and women should not wear a transparent dress. However, in beach clubs and hotels, swimsuits, bikinis and shorts are fine to wear. Do not show signs of affection to members of the opposite sex in public. People of the opposite sex have been arrested for kissing in public and are simply not accepted socially. Always avoid any confrontation and never get involved in a discussion, especially with a local.
